Democratic Party (Curaçao)
The Democratic Party (, ) is a liberal party in Curaçao founded in 1944. The party has participated in elections for the Estates of the Netherlands Antilles (Curaçao constituency) and the Island Council of Curaçao until the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010, obtaining a single seat in the island council in 2007. By obtaining 1019 registrations of support, the party qualified (a minimum of 743 was required) for participation in the Curaçao General Election of 2012 on 19 October in a combined list with Laboral named Partido Democrat Laboral, where it obtained 1.2% of the votes but failed to obtain any seats. In the primary elections of 2016, the party received 1094 votes, again sufficient for participation, but did not end up winning any seats. George Hernandez (politician)
George F. Hernandez (1863–1922) was an American silent film actor who played character parts in 67 movies, following a career as a stage actor. Early life and education Hernandez was born in Placerville, California, 15 years after the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. He was educated in Oakland, California, Oakland. Career In 1888, Hernandez made his acting debut on stage at the old California Theatre (San Francisco), California Theatre in San Francisco. In 1893, he joined the J.K. Emmet company which traveled throughout the United States and Canada. He later became part of the resident company at the Francois Theatre in Montreal, and also appeared at the Grand Opera House in New York. From late 1897 through May 1899, Hernandez was a traveling Shakespearean actor with the Janet Waldorf Company, appearing in ''As You Like It'' and ''Romeo and Juliet''.
